Hi, I'm Kristen.
I've been a professional photographer since 2011. Before that, I spent ten years teaching middle school English, and I never really stopped being a teacher.
Over the years, I've coached beginner photographers, answered countless "probably dumb" questions (they never are), and taught my wife, Sheridan, who started with no photography experience. Today, she confidently photographs weddings, portraits, and events on her own. Watching that transformation reminded me just how overwhelming photography can feel when you're first starting out.
That's why I created Kristen Renee Creative.
You'll absolutely find practical guides here, but what I'm most interested in sharing is the way I think through photography. Why I chose one solution instead of another. How I make decisions when a session isn't going according to plan. What years of experience have taught me that a camera manual never could.
I believe photography becomes less intimidating when you understand why things work, not just what buttons to press.
That's why so much of what I share comes from real sessions, real clients, and real moments that didn't go according to plan. My goal isn't to teach you to photograph the way I do. It's to share the thought process behind my decisions, so you can make confident decisions of your own.
Because every photographer needs a toolbox, not a script.
